Miller Construction Company has launched an $11.8 million construction and renovation project for developer Terranova Corporation at the 801 Lincoln Road retail building in South Beach.
The design/builder’s crews have demolished about half of the building, making minor modifications to allow for construction of a new structure that will adjoin the existing space. Miller is constructing the new, contemporary three-story structure fronting on Meridian Avenue. Designed by Shulman + Associates, with Wolfberg Alvarez & Partners as the architect of record, the 27,077-square-foot building with dramatic, articulated glass exterior will feature a top-floor restaurant for interior and open-air dining with panoramic ocean views. National retailer Anthropologie has leased the first and second floors.
The fast-tracked, 11-month project is on track for completion by year-end, according to Miller Construction Company Sr. Vice President Brian Sudduth. “In the heart of South Beach’s retail and dining district, Terranova is creating an iconic new building, while upgrading historic space,” Sudduth said. “It’s in a neighborhood that’s busy from morning through late-night, so we’re keeping a sharp focus on logistics, traffic and pedestrian safety.” As work progresses, the contractor has built a covered walkway along Meridian Avenue to protect pedestrians.
801 Lincoln Road is one of two buildings that Terranova is developing to expand the Lincoln Road District and the latest retail project for Miller, which has provided new construction and major renovation services for regional and national retailers, from Miami-Dade through Martin counties.
