Miller Construction Company has launched comprehensive renovations for City Furniture at showrooms in Pembroke Pines and Wellington for the top-selling South Florida furniture retailer.
Both the City Furniture showroom at 11249 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, and the Ashley Furniture HomeStore within the Mall at Wellington Green on West Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington will remain open and in full operation throughout the fast-track renovations scheduled for completion by December 1.
At City Furniture’s 58,659-square-foot Pembroke Pines showroom, Miller’s crews are underway with a complete $2 million interior renovation and exterior upgrade. Converting the interior to showcase the next-generation design found in City Furniture’s innovative new stores throughout Southeast, Southwest and Central Florida, the project includes installing dramatic energy-efficient LED lighting, new flooring, wall covering and fixturing. Exterior work will include façade renovation and creating expanses of glass to help open interior sightlines and maximize natural light.
Phasing the work, Miller’s crews, “are striving to be as invisible as possible,” said the general contractor’s Senior Vice President Brian Sudduth. “We’ll upgrade one section of the interior at a time, minimizing any interruption for the sales staff and customers,” he added. As experts in construction within operational retail, healthcare and mission-critical environments, Miller has had ample practice through the years. This is the company’s sixteenth project for City Furniture, including a previous renovation of the Pembroke Pines store in 2007.
“Miller’s fresh, cost-effective solutions to complex challenges make them a resource we count on for new construction and renovations,” said City Furniture President Keith Koenig. “Their consideration for our customers and skill in coordinating with our staff are real advantages.”
As Southeast and Southwest Florida licensee for Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations, City Furniture is relocating its existing 15,000-square-foot Ashley Furniture HomeStore within the Mall at Wellington Green. In the $1.1 million project, Miller will prepare an adjacent, 25,000-square-foot space, tying in with the mall’s fire alarm and sprinkler system, and adhering to the mall’s design and construction standards. At completion, merchandise will be moved and the store opened in time for the holiday shopping season, without any interruption in furniture sales and service.
