Apex Marine, a major yacht servicing facility, with locations in Fort Lauderdale (New River), Pompano and Stuart, announced that it has signed a lease to open a new location on the Miami River on the south bank of the South Fork Canal. The facility will relocate to 2051 NW 11th St. in Miami.
The new five-acre full-service facility will primarily serve yachts in the range of 45 to 130 feet. Services include fiberglass repairs, re-powering, re-fits, steering systems, generators, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, air conditioning and electronics.
The transaction was originated and negotiated by CIASF Member and Director Horacio Stuart Aguirre, as agent for Dixon Commercial Real Estate, working directly with the Landlord, Mr. Finlay Matheson, and Mr. Ismael “Issy” Perera with Apex Marine.
According to Perera, “Once Horacio explained the benefits of the location, I realized that the Miami River was to most logical choice for Apex and expansion of the yacht servicing industry. I can’t think of a better location for a first-class facility that can accommodate yachts up to 130feet in length than Miami.”
It is anticipated that in the first year of operations the on-site employment will be approximately 20 full-time yacht technicians and skilled shipwrights. Off-site employment, with third-party vendors and subcontractors is anticipated to be approximately 25 additional service or vendor providers. These numbers are expected to increase by the end of the second year of operations.
The new location was the former site of Allied Marine, founded in 1945 and once the largest Hatteras Yacht dealership. In recent years, as a result of unwise real estate speculation and the recession, the property was mostly unused and left to deteriorate.
The ownership of Apex Marine pledges that it will restore the property to the pristine glory that it once was and provide first-class yacht maintenance services to national and international customers.
Apex Marine LLC was founded in 2009 by Ismael “Issy” Perera. Perera has been a life long Miami resident and boating enthusiast and retired from the corporate world a few years before.
Having been a boat owner most of his life and having many friends that are also yacht owners, Issy knew first hand what he and his friends as customers expected from a yacht repair and maintenance facility.
“Every customer wants to feel and be treated like they are the most important customer in the world,” commented Perera. “They want the work to be completed right the first time and when it was promised, and they expect their yacht to be returned to them clean and in perfect working conditions. They also want to deal with knowledgeable people that are courteous and deliver what they promise.”
Today, Apex Marine, “The Luxury Yacht Service Facility,” serves customers with three locations in Stuart, Pompano Beach, and Ft Lauderdale. In addition, Apex Marine is also the exclusive Tiara Yachts dealer for Miami Dade and the Florida Keys.
Apex Marine’s technicians and management have over 400 years of experience in the yacht maintenance, refitting and repair business. They also offer dry dock storage for Tropical Storms and Hurricanes.
Apex Marine is a factory authorized repair facility for luxury vessels such as Ferretti, Pershing, Riva, Mochi Craft, Bertram, Tiara, Wider and Selene Yachts.
